When it comes to ocean photography, there are few on the Sunshine Coast with the portfolio and following that Kieran has. Having carved out a name for himself over the last few years as one of the coasts leading ocean photographers, Kieran has been travelling abroad, capturing everything from bodyboarding to commercial work for clients like Maui Jim in Hawaii, and is currently travelling New Zealand for a host of sponsors who are guaranteed to get some amazing work in return.
Spending the morning shooting with Kieran was awesome, and its easy to see why people like to shoot with him. Relaxed, easy going, and passionate about photography, having grown up around the sun, sand and surf of Kawana and Point Cartwright, its easy to see how wave, surf and ocean photography could quickly become a passion.
Some of Kieran’s most noticeable work includes the incredible capture of the bait fish ball just off Kawan Pocket – a sight rarely seen, and such a unique shot thanks to a combination of luck, expertise and experience, everything came together for him to get this rare moment.
Kieran also loves a bit of landscape and astro photography, which the Sunshine Coast provides plenty of opportunities for both! Kieran’s creative flair and skill allow him to produce some unique and captivating images. The dark skies of the Sunshine Coast hinterland provide almost endless opportunities and creative freedom for astro photography, and the gorgeous rolling hills, waterfalls and forests become a landscape photographer playground, drawing out the adventurer in all of us.
Shooting abroad has been an enriching experience for Kieran, having travelled to Samoa, Fiji and Hawaii, as well as New Zealand, his portfolio is rich with diversity and inspirational to browse through.
