It’s official – WE’RE ON!!!

After 18 months of planning, discussions, meetings & consultation we have now reached a very exciting milestone – we are now all systems go for the Photo Shootout Sunshine Coast 2016!

What is the Photo Shootout you may ask? Well, it is a weekend long photography festival and competition, bringing together photographers from far and wide to celebrate our passion and our art. The inaugural event will be hosted on the gorgeous Sunshine Coast, and is supported by the Sunshine Coast Council, Sunshine Coast Destinations Limited and TEDs Camera Stores.

The festival is jam packed full of fun for photographers of all levels. During the weekend we will:

Compete in the 24 hour photography competition – shoot, edit and submit your images within 24 hours for your chance to win! Each person who registers can enter 3 images in up to 3 categories – thats 9 images in total!!! Categories include:

  • Landscapes
  • Seascapes
  • Night & Astro
  • People & Portraits
  • Sports & Adventure
  • Creative & Illustrative
  • Phonetography

Get your hands on the latest gear at the Ted’s Cameras Industry Showcase – some of the best and latest gear will be on display. Talk to industry experts, get hands on and try out some of your dream gear at the showcase.

Learn from the very best and grow your skills – A huge range of workshops and photographic tours will be available during the festival. Learn from some of the best photographers in the industry across everything from landscapes, wedding & portrait, studio and more!

Celebrate with our winners – The entire competition is wrapped up within 48 hours! Fuelled by mass amounts of caffeine, our judging panel will be working hard over the weekend to have all finalists and winners ready to be announced at our Shootout Gala night – the awards presentation ceremony on Sunday night! Have a few drinks, some canapés, take a look at the finalists images in a digital display and celebrate with us as we announce the winners and award the prizes!

Registrations are now open!! Get in quick, as you only have a few weeks to grab the early bird discount.

What will you see here over the next few months? We’ll be putting exiting festival announcements up here, interviews with amazing local and nationally recognised photographers, hints and tips, location tips around the Sunshine Coast, gear reviews and so much more!! Make sure you check back regularly, and follow us on Facebook and Instagram

We can’t wait to share this incredible festival with you.

Hi. I would like to come, but I am working on the Friday. I notice registration is on Friday. Is this going to be an issue for me to be able to join?
I will be able to come on the Saturday and Sunday though. Interested in doing a couple of the competitions too.
    Thanks
    Tracey

Hi Tracey – The competition starts at 4pm on the Friday, but we will have a late registration booth running. You will just need to be aware that you won’t then get the full 24 hours to shoot, edit and submit, but still more than welcome to compete and participate!

I cannot find a list of what the workshops are, and I don’t want to register without seeing what’s on. Can you please advise where I can see the list.
    Thanks
    Julie

Do the photo stations have editing software and computers that contestants can use?

I wouldn’t like to enter if I’m immediately disadvantaged by not having photo editing capabilities where other contestants may have laptops they can use.

Hi Ivan, unfortunately we don’t have editing facilities for people. You would need to have your own editing capabilities.

Do we have to pay the full registration fee if we only want to go to the talks and lectures, and not enter in the photo competition.

Hi Simon, Thanks for getting in touch.

Presently, there is one at Lake Kawana Community Centre, Teds Maroochydore, Cafe Le Monde in Hastings Street, and we are just finalising the location in Caloundra.
